Are you an experienced and motivated Engineer with a passion for producing the highest quality products for the commercial market? We are in need of a Sr. NPD ( New Product Development ) Engineer whom will see products through from idea to manufacture. Packaging experience is necessary here. Reporting to the Director, New Product Development & Program Management, the Sr. New Product Development Engineer is responsible for the ideation, design, development and specification of a variety of manufactured and imported consumer goods. Primary focus is on designing and developing product; however, specification of packaging is also required. Responsibilities include brainstorming new concepts; creating, issuing and updating specifications for products, retail packaging, master cartons, and displays; and developing and implementing cost reduction projects. This role may also mentor and supports junior engineering staff. The successful candidate will be resourceful, creative, and detail-oriented, possess strong project management skills, and feel comfortable working cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.



Create and release product and packaging specifications for new development, product updates, and cost reductions, accurately and in a timely manner

Target 95% accuracy; 95% adherence to committed completion dates

Work closely with Product Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to develop new and innovative product & packaging concepts

Innovations brought to market on time and on budget, with features meeting stakeholder requirements.

Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities; schedule and drive cost reduction projects to realized cost savings

Meet schedule and cost savings targets for planned annual assigned cost reduction projects.

Support ECM process by providing timely and accurate master data as required

Information delivered within lead-time specified by company and with 100% accuracy.

Develop and implement test plans as needed

Execution of testing to specified parameters and protocol, resulting in designs that meet quality requirements

Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a self-directed manner, working closely with Marketing, Operations, and domestic & international suppliers to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met

Projects and tasks are undertaken and completed with a minimum of oversight; allegiance to schedule, budget, and stakeholder requirements is demonstrated.

Design with customer requirements, quality and performance requirements, retail space restrictions, manufacturability, and cost reduction in mind


Revisions and re-work of designs is minimized; design work is done with a full understanding of all stakeholder requirements, and open and transparent dialogue with stakeholders regarding the aesthetic, cost, material and other impacts of said requirements.

Provide technical and business expertise to the organization; provide mentoring, training, and technical support to NPD group

Stakeholders are fully supported with expert knowledge as needed.

Develop, document, and implement New Product Development policies, procedures, test methodologies, and reports

Database of policies and procedures is maintained and updated regularly

BS Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience

10+ years’ experience in consumer goods engineering

Experience interacting with US and Asian factories and suppliers on product and package design, testing, and manufacturing is a plus

Knowledge of current manufacturing processes.  Equipment knowledge and experience is a plus
